Bangladesh

Charlotte Clemensen lived and worked in Bangladesh from 2016 to 2019, where she documented working conditions and everyday life in different areas of the capital, Dhaka. Through her photography, she explored themes such as labor, identity, urban life, and social inequality, focusing on the human stories behind the city’s fast development.

Her strong passion for documentary photography has been closely connected to her work within NGOs, where photography became both a creative practice and a tool for storytelling and awareness. By spending time with the people and communities she photographed, Charlotte aimed to create honest and respectful images that reflect both vulnerability and resilience.

The project from Bangladesh captures moments of everyday life and working environments that are often overlooked. Through close observation and human connection, the photographs seek to give visibility and voice to the people behind the stories.

The images presented on this website offer only a small glimpse into a much larger body of work created during her years in Bangladesh — a visual archive shaped by encounters, experiences, and everyday moments documented over time.
